Piano

Marcia Powell graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Music Education.

She started playing piano at age 5; then took up the violin at age 9. She lived out in the country and didn’t have television (!), so recreation included playing piano duets with her sister. Thus, she learned to read music well at an early age.

She played violin in her college orchestra, and a few other orchestras since then, including the San Diego Community Orchestra and the Santa Barbara
Symphony.

Marcia also directed her church choir for many years.

In addition to teaching piano and violin, she loves to accompany singers.

Marcia teaches in her home in Montrose (La Crescenta) and welcomes new students from beginners to advanced.
